“Wake up and live” imprinted on shadowed fists with a quirky antique clock draw your eyes in immediately as you walk into Java.
The scent of strong coffee and spices hang in the air while the place buzzes with coffee grinding, parents chatting, and plates clanking together.
The small chain has several other stores in Idaho and recently decided to visit Westport, settling a mere week ago.
Java is known for their coffee, but also have a wonderful selection of natural, home-baked goods, salads, sandwiches, and breakfast options. I suggest the oatmeal: rich and thick with the flavor of banana throughout. Also try at some point the Bowl of Soul, essentially a mocha on steroids: Java’s prized jewel.
Whether you stop in for a quick dose of caffeine before school, or leisurely soak in the warmth from the windowed wall, Java brings back a neighborhood feel that Westport downtown desperately needed.
